Racehorse Humidor Chest

The humidor is veneered with mansonia from the Ivory Coast, and has ebony inlay lines at the edges and an ebony escutcheon. The racehorse and racng colours are knife-cut marquetry by John Burrell.

To formulate this unique design, various timbers are used. The background of the marquetry picture is magnolia, maple and walnut using different shades and types of grains to give the depth of field. The sand scorching of certain pieces creates the shading. The horse is in African mahogany and the racing colours are in sycamore.

The interior is lined with Belize cedar and has a lift-out tray and moveable partitions. There are two humitecs, a cutter and a hygrometer fitted into the lid.

The accessories consist of an ashtray, which has a silver dish, and a lighter, both of which are made in materials to match the humidor. The humidor and the accessories are finished in hardwearing clear lacquer with a suede base to protect other surfaces.
